There is a particular sequence playing out amongst the Shapes ASP, CHILD and HEGOAT woven into this current eclipse episode and that of last season; meaning the three consecutive lunations of late winter 2025 and the three consecutive lunations of late summer 2025. There may or may not be parallels, seedforms, re-generations, intersections and continuations of an ongoing process playing out between that which has become over-tensioned from too much scripting and programing versus that which requires looseness, improvisation and dissolving. It’s an issue of dealing with what’s on schedule and what’s out of the blue. But on deeper archetypal levels there appears to be something incepting to satisfy energetic sovereignty on sub DNA levels conceiving of and celebrating new life patterns sired by procreative instincts which seek to send seeds into the future so propagation is assured on the other side of the abyss. In the grander scheme of 2025, your own genetic make up, the electric serpent which enwraps your holographic helix, may be summoning forth songs, dances, and feastings signaling the birth of what’s to be implanted in our soon to be futures, for which we look for a place to insert our energy and lock into a rhythm.

Here is the sequence of lunations of 2025 within the circle of 28 Shapes. The recurrence of ASP—CHILD—HEGOAT is in bold, and the pair of eclipses is underlined. The winter installment contained the final eclipse in Aries and the current summer pair fall entirely on the Pisces-Virgo axis:

The Picatrix calls this mansion “The Lower Spout of the Water Bucket” and sees a “winged man holding an empty perforated vessel and a bone”; the talisman is for “injury to springs”. Obviously there is a nature here of permeability, pouring forth, being the opposite of containment, things flowing loose, emanating from, and showering. The Shape from the Greek Magical Papyri’s ‘Prayer to Mene’ is CHILD, and likely refers to baby Horus, the divine child, a.k.a. Harpocrates, who’s solar significance was the Sun in it’s newness, which makes sense in late Pisces. Tropically this is roughly where the Spring begins in China and where Imbolg / Candlemas is situated in Europe. Spring is soon to be inevitably sprung as (in the North) ice is just beginning to thaw and sap is getting on the run. If you live in Northeast North America you can imagine the atmosphere of maple sugar season: warm afternoons and lengthening days hanging out boiling and stirring aromatic cauldrons of sap drinking beer in the slowly shrinking snows. For reasons we will further discuss, I’ve always thought of CHILD mansion like a kind of divine, archetypal baby shower, and it seems to be consensus that the word shower refers to showering the mother-to-be with gifts for the soon to be born.

The Picatrix does say this mansion can increase merchandise, profit and harvests, but more fitting is the spirit from the Grimorium Verum, Frutimier, who prepares feasts and banquets. Indeed, the Chinese Xiu talks of the Emperor giving speeches followed by a Grand Concert, being a mansion associated with arts and music. The Pomp and ceremony could literally be presaging the departure or arrival of a child from one region to another. Grand assembly rituals, grand concerts and processions in general occur here. The Rigvedic deity of this Nakshatra is Pushan, the nourisher, a protective solar deity who aids in prosperity, increase, and flourishing. As a shepherd tending flocks there can be good pastures and abundant eating. Ironically propitiation with porridge and oatmeal are appropriate, or watery plants and flowers, fruits, that doesn’t require much chewing— like an infant.

This smoothness of texture is interesting. Some almanac advice from the Chinese tradition regarding this Xiu is to move slow and methodically and so a snake won’t strike. Interesting for smooth, loose, flowing Pisces, free of halting motions. The Quimbanda Exu syncretized to Frutimier is Exu Tranca-Tudo, ‘all-locker, locks everything’. Apparently things can be either flowing or stopped here, like via a valve or switch opening or closing a circuit. The archetype though seems to be about the presence of flow and issuing forth, not about restriction, but when flow is of the essence, mediating it becomes a function. The Fangshi of this Xiu is a court musician carrying a bamboo flute, similar to the Picatrix’s perforated vessel and bone. Breath through a flute is a form of flow, and if music is happening the flow of breath is in its moment of continual occurrence, but the fingers on the holes determine the sound and make the melodiousness, as the occasional pauses for breath are also likely semi-strategic, fitting into the pleasing pattern of sound. This is ironic yet fitting as Harpocrates was also considered the god of silence, mainly because his gesture of finger before mouth, which could also be indicating a request to be fed. Feasts and banquets might also be thought of the same way. Verum uses the word “prepares”. This is not a nourishment fountain in the sense of vitamin slop on the table, it is cuisine. I doubt this means formal, sit down, white table cloth environment, but more festive, like street food, libations and dancing. Ironically Indian Pushan links to a Sanskrit word meaning “to cause to thrive” and roots etymologically to Proto-Indo-European linkages to the Greek god Pan, who notably also plays flute like pipes.

We must consider that this is not just a lunation stimulating the archetypes encoded into this stretch of zodiac, but an eclipse event where the North Node reddens the Moon, distorting the significations by accelerating them, making them amped up, more insatiable, over eager, rushed, biting off more than can be chewed, grabbing things that cannot be safely held, plunging into pools which are over our heads. In a recent article I described it like drinking from the firehose, or attempting to fill your cups with such force they are upset, and the contents mostly just spill everywhere and saturate what they are not supposed to. Copiousness is generally good, but we must be weary of when there is too much of a good thing. This can verge on quality versus quantity, as Jupiter is a bringer of abundance, but may also be just about nuance, as in our musical metaphor: maximalized tone blasting isn’t always the soundtrack of celebration. The axis that deals with mingling immersion versus specificity to the point of specialization may have a place in between which if surfed carefully can keep things feeling special rather than being either overly blown-out or in abstinence. This may be a matter of measure. Under normal circumstances its more of a pure celebration of new life event and festivities ensue as normal, but with Rahu at the helm we know the guests (including us) may tend to excess and this may need careful management, without implementation of any strictness. Surfing is a good metaphor; too tight or too loose and you just wipe out rather than hang ten.

Is your diet excessively anal (obviously two words we don’t want associated), or your food formless and excessively yin, as in nothing but cool cream? The polarities are pushing and pulling but if we are receptive to it a symphonic, organic articulation is naturally unfolding which has different slippery sections and refined tensions from previous in our existences. What was on the menu and on your party playlist in 2007? Anything need revisiting or refreshing? Are you ready to cook and compose and celebrate in new ways which are adapted to who you are and where you are at now rather than then? Like in all astrology, when I say cooking, composing and celebrating I mean it both literally and metaphorically at the same time. Are you sick of some old procedures and anxious to immerse in new atmospheres? Can you smell the metaphorical maple sap boiling, and tap into the emerging light/life its portending. There’s a just around the corner-ness and a not-quiet-yet-ness to this moment, but it’s full of abundant evidence that an incoming era is inevitable. Here we deal with how we carry what has been already conceived of through its final stages before emergence, and the way in which we sing to the future, memorialize it in advance, commemorate the acknowledged experience, all make a difference. Like investigating what someone’s mother’s mood was like while they were in-utero. Was she immersed in a good atmosphere, listening to music, eating well, around loving friends and family? Or was she over-tensioned, thrashing about, moving erratically, and getting bit by snakes?
