Full Moon in Capricorn
July 10th 2025 at 4:37pm Eastern
18* 50' Capricorn: 23rd Shape: TORCH
12° 51' 26'' Capricorn – 25° 42' 51'' Capricorn
The many significations of tomorrow’s Full Moon in Capricorn, in the Shape of TORCH by the list from the PGM’s “Prayer To Mene” are interesting, considering especially the current scenario playing out between the South Node and Mars in late Virgo. The two are set to meet on June twentieth, at which point we should have our hands directly on, and critically dealing with the exact components which are causing friction within the system and need to be removed, they are likely redundant, and making overall processes more complicated than they need to be. Mars severs and the South Node causes compulsion to release, shed, remove, purge, refine or even spiritualize. The Shape itself that this conjunction occurs in is HEGOAT, which pulsates with urges to penetrate and puncture and really is looking to be productive but can be prone to kicking the stalls if not set to a task, fitting for late Virgo which is intent on tying up operational loose ends and concluding projects. Bio-energetically this refers to anatomy which wants to remove waste from the system, which includes, psychologically, letting go attachment to outdated concepts and situations which have become irrelevant. I’ve noticed multiple Virgo risings right now being subject to issues which are dragging them along repeated diagnostic episodes of persistent problems who’s sneaky source has been impossible to identify, whether automotive or medical. Virgo rising having this transit in the first house makes this dynamic more directly visible and obvious to observe, but we all are having this transit somewhere in our chart, and it may be that this lunation lends some light to the matter from a complimentary section of the zodiac to x-ray vision beneath the hood and into the engine’s internals revealing the part continually disregulating the system from an alternate perspective.

TORCH most obviously refers to the symbol of Hekate, such is the theme of “Mene”’s final seven Shapes which span the winter sequence from circumpolar North to rising East, where the initiate undergoes ordeal and comes out after the long night a member of the cultus, or the recently departed having exited the Gate Of Excarnation (at Winter Solstice) undergoes the journey of transmigration (of which initiation was practice) and traverses the Underworld seeking rebirth and return to the world (seasonally at the arrival of spring and Vernal Equinox). TORCH then would be the katabasis itself, the “going below”, the bringing of illumination, assisted by chthonic-divine Hekate lighting the liminal way through the tomb-become-tunnels of the deeper earth, and the land of the dead. This may be a good time to light a candle for your own ancestors and associates who have gone beyond, as they can also be effective guides at this time and may even perform blessings to non-linearly condition the circumstances of your mundane existence. Abundant light is available in the Northern Hemisphere’s current long days and heavy rains before the later summer drying of the land, so send some luminous prayers and quenchings-of-thirsts northward below the eternally turning stars.

As the lunation occurs trine to Mars and the South Node’s surgical conjunction, the light offered beneath the surface may reveal the very thorn this eclipse cycle is trying to remove from reality’s body and Mars is keen to cut out. As so much new is attempting to arrive with four outer planets having recently shifted signs relatively at once as well as Jupiter in exaltation being very able to swell opportunities and grow resources suddenly, we need space for the incoming story to fit. We simply can’t have this much radically new narrative run in simultaneity with the old, like trying to watch two movies on the same screen, it will be incoherent and chaotic, and on a biological level would lead to extreme excess symptoms. If excretory functions cease completely the body is in serious trouble. This insightful review of the historical chronology and up close inspection of our skeletons can display with subjective knowing what has become lifeless and crowds our story in zombification, which we would do well to allow to rest and put to eternal sleep. This is earthy intelligence, tapping into the enduring fortitude of infrastructure and territory. Moon in Capricorn can tend to grind away without food, so you’ll have to tap into this dynamic, find the lamp and light it to walk through the halls of yours and all of ours eternal history and like wandering in a museum come away with real definition of awareness.

The Picatrix calls this mansion the “Good Fortune of the Swallower”, and sees as an image a cat with the head of dog. In fact, the details of the talisman (in this case for destruction, but as frequently noted this likely implies destruction only when malefically aligned) include iron, dog hair incense, displaying the image to stars with Moon on Ascendent, and to bury at the target. Dogs dig, and sometimes bury food (bones) to return to later, and burying here could continue the theme of katabasis and going below or revealing what is beneath the surface. Here something is inserted to destroy, but in the context of the current astrology’s trine it may be more appropriate to dig for the thing to remove with surgical precision and clarity and avoid anything being damaged in the process, inflicting only the most necessary incisions. The going below and digging continue with the Grimorium Verum spirit Frucissiere, who ‘brings whoever dead or alive’ and ‘revives the dead’ as well as performing ‘necromancy by bones’. His syncretized Quimbanda Exu is Exu dos Cemiterios, or ’of the cemeteries’.

Materiality is emphasized in the Nakshatras association with the 8 Vasu Devas of earthly abundance, expressions of the planets essences manifesting and dwelling in the material and corporeal world, bestowing by the growing bright, which reminds of Mene’s TORCH, from the Greek “Lampás”, or lamp. The Chinese Xiu returns to the theme of ghosts, seeing them carried across the sky in a chariot in the stars- connecting above and below as the Verum also does with burying the talisman after showing it to the firmament. Sacrifices to the dead, communication with the dead, traversing afterlife bardos, tombs, battlefields, ancestral blessings, hermetic teachings, treasure, things precious and hidden are all discussed here. The deities seen here are deceased emperors and retired elders, advisors and scholars.

All of this digging and underworld traveling and connecting earth and sky, bringing light into the dark is interesting as Mercury turns retrograde on the 18th, just over a week after the Full Moon, at which point he’ll be ruling Mars, the South Node, Venus and newly ingressed Uranus. Looking over the plot and doing some serious sleuthing is going to be a theme for the mid section of the summer which keys into crucial plot pivots of how the last twenty years convert into the next twenty; what stays what goes and what gets reorganized in specific ways to allow arrangements which have increased Daimonic signal flow-through. The surgical severance story playing out and the desiring to reshuffle the conceptual playbook into fresh possibilities are square by sign, and tensioning the narrative, despite being governed by the same review of what is authentic and what energetically suits us. Key to the moment is reorganizing our thoughts, circumstances, energetics, emotions to situate incoming and outgoing reality specifics and articulations so we can accept, absorb and integrate the moment ongoingly. We seek nourishment. We need the fulfilling nutrients of existing. We step away from the last long supper and move through the bardo towards the next meal of our life. Metabolically we need to be well fed and stored for the process. Know thyself. Every system has different requirements. Don’t starve yourself seeking new, necessary nourishment. Be awake, alert, and decisive. Move appropriately.

Digging more into the going below ground and pivoting around themes, Saturn stations retrograde two days after the Saturn ruled lunation, signaling a turn of tide from constructive activity and obstacle course initiation to patient, snake like waiting in the grass for the appropriate moment to strike. Something in the uncovering artifacts and strategic archeology seems to trigger this disposition shift in how we maneuver the time-territory. The upcoming New Moon in Leo which follows after this Full Moon in Capricorn opposes Pluto in Aquarius. What here is one kind of deep look is there another kind. Tomorrow we illuminate things in the tunnels, basements, tombs, vaults, and with diagnostic intent respond to logistical crosswires as fondness for paradigm shifting epiphanies beckon. In two weeks time we contemplate from our hearts and central fires of our spirits what progressive precipices of the next twenty years we are quietly beginning our step off into the unknown of in search of powerful, electrical upgrades. This is gaining governance upon ourselves from the depth reaches, the externals above to the internals below, and vis versa. That which has been built up to the structure of the now, and securely unbound into that which is yet to come. Seek the bone of contention and award capability to a dynamic living system.
