South Node Lunar Eclipse in Virgo

Early March’s eclipsed Full Moon occurs in a part of the zodiac I find explicitly tied up in the process of separating noise from signal; what is nutritious enough to fully integrate and what is toxic and must be ushered out as waste. This certainly doubles down on the operation in effect by the South Node in itself, that in general is wont to reveal to us what we are sick of so that we can shed it and purge that which has become outmoded in reality, and by this extraction arrive at a more refined and often more “spiritualized” status.

To be more zodiacally specific, this likely has to do with the removal of redundancy, as being overly engineered can add friction to the system and for operations to be of a fool proof nature they have to also be as simple as they possibly can. This is good news really, even if it requires puking up some bugs from the programming, as Saturn now settled into Aries prefers energy to remain un-wasted and only employed when most effective. As this is Saturn, we’ll learn the hard way when we act impulsively and ultimately immature, so curb your more brash and teenage-prone behaviors before you cross Saturn’s invisible line in the sand.

And indeed, teenage is in essence what this Shape is about, being of course KIDGOAT, or as some translators have it “YoungHornedGoat”, or confusingly, possibly even SheGoat. I say confusingly as we already have a SHEGOAT in the list, but that literally translates to Chimera, the issue being SheGoat is what they would have meant by Chimera in the days of the PGM being penned, and KIDGOAT is literally “diminutive-goat”, which could have meant young- or she-, and since there is probably only one she- intended in the list of goats this probably is trying to say young- as the next goat on the list is certainly a he-. It’s worth conveying this etymological runaround as it encapsulates the theme which opened this article: the process of separating noise from signal and reducing redundancy.

KIDGOAT is saying “lets be clear” when things are certainly not clear, and, “lets get things straight”, when things are certainly not straight. KIDGOAT natives tend to gravitate towards that kind of abstract design aesthetic that just juxtaposes patterns and occasionally makes an obscure reference and in the end its seen as smart or tuned to some higher organizing principle but in actuality might be not much more than randomness from a layman’s point of view. The specific goat they are referring to is likely young Dionysus, where in his youth he was hidden from wrathful Hera with his aunt, Ino and her husband and raised as a girl, as she wasn’t so keen on Zeus having children with other women, in this case Samele. This tale is a clusterfuck of variant versions, lineage knots, infidelities, induced madness, slayings and brushes against the contentious, archaic and catalyzing Golden Fleece.

In another version of hiding young Dionysus from jealous and wrathful Hera Dionysus was changed into a baby goat and delivered to the oceanid Nymphs the Nysiads who cared for him and raised him along with the infamous satyr Silenius, the drunken god of musical creativity and dancing. The lusty and unbridled themes here extend into the Picatrix seeing in the 13th Mansion a “man desiring coitus with a woman” and the talisman for “unbinding of men impotent with women, love between man and woman”. There is considerable overlap as far as this theme with the next Shape, HEGOAT, which I find to be more randy than KID to say the least, but, horny billy goats have to start somewhere, and KIDGOAT in many ways is the coming of age pubescence potentiating things to come.

Along these lines, in the Rig Vedic association for the 13th Nakshatra we find Savitra , a solar deity who’s name means “to generate” and refers to the pre dawn Sun. Here the Sun grants intelligence and awareness and impels life, as if to warm up the activity and activate the story by transmitting some yang into the equation. This could parallel some bacchanalia thrown in the works to break the ice and “shake things up”, but remember, this is a South Node lunar eclipse, so in the spirit of sending that which is overly toxic out the garbage shoot, it may be redundant excesses of bacchanalia failing to keep things moving and instead retarding the process or kinking up the components would be better off reduced to original settings and not poured upon by so much special sauce. Mercury, the ruler of this Virgo lunation, is indeed in Pisces and retrograde, maybe swimming around in what it’s like to think immersively now that Saturn isn’t hardening the water and Neptune isn’t lacing it with uninvited narcotic fluids.

The spirit of the Grimoirium Verum is Bechaud, who’s repertoire involves storms, tempests, rain, snow, hail, winds, frosts thunder, as well as rains of blood and toads and what have you or put simply weather in general. This is interesting in early March which arrives lion-like and concludes lamb-like in the parts of the Northern Hemisphere. Another Mercurial reference is Bechaud if said to appreciate (or necessitate) an offering of a walnut, brain food for Hermes himself, who is the divine messenger who crops up in each version of the “hide Dionysus” variants as the one responsible for transferring the young god to a Hera-safe location.

The Quimbanda syncretic pairing with Bechaud is Exu dos Ventos, ‘of the winds’. Air, elementally blows everything not lashed down all around, scrambling and rearranging things. Virgo is a mutable sign and puberty is a very dramatic period of change. If things are, across all astrological readouts of 2026, certainly no longer staying status quo, we may heed the South Node’s compelling nudge and reduce, refine and decomplexify how our lives logistically run before we are tripping over the rats nest of excess wiring, especially if some weather is planning on piping up, as that is generally completely beyond our control, unless Bechaud is in your goetic back pocket.

The Xiu talks about fire in a variety of ways, funerary, ceremonial, purifying, plasmic and sacrificial. It’s also a tantric Station, where animal mimicry and ecstatic dance comes into play, bridging the Dionysian, carnal and gnosis illuminating threads from the other traditions; even in the Chinese way of referring to tantric practices as Thunder magic may track with Verum’s Bechaud who’s specialty is storms. Shapeshifting is also mentioned, which is likely in the shamanic sense, but also reminds of the changeability and rites of passage connotations which may be implied

throughout.

This is not the last Virgo eclipse, somewhat surprisingly. There is a final purgation at 2 degrees Virgo in February of 2027, so we might consider that we are very much in mid process with the process of refining our process. Mercury will be retrograde at that eclipse as well, the Moon itself conjunct Retrograde Mars. There is a lot of debugging yet to come, so we might do ourselves a favor and stream line where we can, and especially where we expect to soon mutate, and absolutely where we see trip lines already leading. Reducing exposure to that which is not worth the influence is a keen idea if our experience is going to be realistically digestible.
