This Full Moon in ASP Shape is the subjective blossoming which was first incepted with the last New Moon in GARLAND two weeks ago, and carries a much different energy than GARLAND’s bardo bondage. The Sun now transmits light from HERALD WAND’s liberatory quickening where the Mercury cazimi recently occurred, likely marking some details and downloads of interest to do with how we might unlock and escape our more oppressive circumstances. We’ve passed through the cross quarter day of Imbolc and depending on location you may be noticing the light increasing as well as sense the secret flow of sap within the trees despite the increasing snow and ice. Venus, though currently in retrograde shadow and planning to splash back in the expansive waters of Pisces and re-conjoin all blurring Neptune, is for the moment in fiery Aries to compliment this Leo Moon’s brightness and warmth of glow, as well as Venus ruling over the territory where Uranus proceeds towards the end of his time in Taurus jolting the lunation with some anticipatory electricity and the tectonic rumbling to shake rather stuck things up, especially those which haven’t budged in way too long. Jupiter has also recently stationed direct since the GARLAND New Moon, so the idea to scan for opportunities to move on to more nourishing philosophical flows which accompany attitudes of abundance also linger in availability. Don’t get me wrong, this is a massively confused time in general, and retrogradation reigns in the extreme, we’ll be back sliding quite a bit in 2025 even though the bold moves into new activity will be the predominant feature, and we’ll remember this time as when we first took stabs out of the dark and trudged on up out of the swamp, quite drunk and out of our minds, thinking our madness was inspired lucidity at the time. Even though it is very likely whatever you are thinking or feeling you might be plunging into next you are likely absolutely tripping your ass off about, this particular Moon has jailbreak genius encoded in it, and a prismatic splendor which illuminates things about your multifaceted power. Like anytime Neptune has a lot to say about the matter, allow your perceptions to be widened without limit, but don’t take things too literally and careful not to over identify and project falsity into the future for you to get soon to be shipwrecked down the line.
By the chain of dispositors this Moon is ruled by the Sun, Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury then back to Saturn forming a Mercury-Saturn-Jupiter loop. Integrating new analytical upgrades, letting go of rigid plans, and worm-holing information to expand idea caches. This sets the tone for ASP’s almost geopolitical nature. We’re talking the cobra worn upon the Pharaoh’s crown, which displays a right to rule. The axis itself, HERALDS WAND—ASP together invokes the serpent wrapped around scepter, and indeed, DNA and bloodline play a large role in this archetype. We find talk of improving alliances and the reliability of officials in the Picatrix, with a talisman for separating lovers, suggesting concerns over who is being paired with who. The spirit of the Grimorium Verum holds power over lords, aristocracy and affairs of state. Interesting that we’re talking about powerful people in general and how you orient to them, as the Exu counterpart to this spirit in Quimbanda is said to have a fearsome reputation and wears a black cape, seemingly aristocratic garb. The Rigvedic deity is Aryaman, whose name means partner, friend or companion, further emphasizing these alliances and linkages of relation, and is a Nakshatra of prosperity via arranged marriages or business or trade status. More contemporary attributions mention Phalguni, and the “fruits of progeny”. This Nakshatra is associated with the festival of Holi, which celebrates spring, the victory of good over evil and aligns with multiple legendary alliances such as Kama and Rati, Radha and Krishna and even the lion and man forms which fuse to make Narasimha, an avatar of Vishnu who eviscerates the demon king Hiranyakashipu. The Picatrix sees here a man fighting a dragon, the juxtaposition of two different types of entity, one of which may be serpentine like the PGM’s ASP/ Cobra.
The shift into the spring season, which is viscerally not quite yet in much of the more northern parts of the world, still is beginning to pierce through and make itself known if by nothing else the increase and quality of light. Indeed, the Picatrix calls this mansion “The Changer” and Chinese New Year occurred with the New Moon which led to this Full Moon, as the Chinese tend to anticipate change and place their beginnings somewhere in the ends which precede them so as to exist in continual process and morphing. The polychromatic insanity of Holi may reflect the prismatic quality hidden in light that may seem only to be white brightness or simple luminosity. The Mercurialness inherent in the axis of HERALDS WAND, or Caduceus, may also encode a multi-colorness which can arise when ASP is activated. The animal in the Chinese tradition is the Swallow, the iconic progenitor of the Shang imperial family. The multiplying and mixing of colors, could be heraldic motifs which emerge as clan colors and iconography merge and fuse.
In multiple traditions of the 28 you find that somehow the 11th and 12th Shapes are overlapped, intertwined, connected or linked somehow. These two positions in the Verum are the first two of the 18 subordinate spirits, and their functions are strikingly similar to the 11th and 12th Nakshatras: lords distributing goods and progenitor match makers curating fertile couplings. The 12th word on the list of the PGM’s Prayer to Mene is θέρμουθις, or Thermouthis, related to a goddess associated with fertility of vegetation and soil, and breast feeding. In Egypt she was the cobra headed Renenūtet, also related to nursing as well as providing food and provisions. There is a lot of overlap here with the 11th Shape SHEGOAT / CHIMERA, referring to the conspiracy of nymph and female goat who suckled baby Zeus. The fact that these two Shapes and the entities within them are themselves linked furthers this theme of alliances to meta levels. Images of Isis-Thermouthis often include Serapis and sometimes Osiris as well, so once again connections, alliances, mergers and power couples. The Uraeus, or pharaonic headpiece cobra, symbolized the goddess Wedjet, who with the Vulture goddess Nekhbet ruled the whole of Egypt as the Two Sisters. Interesting as VULTURE is the 2nd Shape on the list, just after the first who in the Verum would be Lucifer, and the shape before ASP is SHEGOAT, which in the Verum is Claunech, the “beloved of Lucifer” and first of the 18 subordinate spirits. So, a vulture follows the primary first and a cobra follows the secondary first, making the two seconds the two animals of the Two Sisters, Nekhbet and Wadjet. It is perhaps this type of status observation which is natural to ASP’s fruit bearing alliances amongst aristocracy and various power players. Pay attention to who’s who and the way in which these characters are webbed and woven together. Whose in bed with who and why? What are they up to?
The often pragmatic Chinese material also speaks of building stockades, defenses, danger in precarious situations, how you act in danger, and making the best of a bad situation with a Fangshi who is an elder courtier and a survivor of battles. This may caution us to consider how wise our alliances are, who we have in our corner, and the integrity or endurance of these ties and bonds under pressure. We might test these by observing how much abundance and nourishment they bring into our lives, as well as how happy they make us, if they are able to banish wickedness from our experience, how much they are an enemy of corruption. Having survived some heavy scenarios together often illuminates who was worth being entwined with when shit hit the fan, and who instead ran to the shelter of other houses or dispersed into unrelated collective enclaves.
